About Us

Welcome to bsaha, your gateway to experience Morocco and North Africa at home. We are more than just a store; we are here to celebrate all that is North African food & culture. Bsaha is a passion-driven project curated by Dave Patera, the creator behind DinnersWithDave, a social media channel dedicated to sharing the rich heritage of the Moroccan and North African kitchen.

At bsaha, we are on a mission to make North African cookware and iconic brands accessible to the North American market. We value fair business practices and strive to take care of our most valuable asset - you. Our Inspiration

Bsaha is an ode to Dave's Algerian grandmother, Henriette, whose story is deeply rooted in the heart of our store. When she arrived in the United States from Tlemcen, Algeria, she left so much of her food culture behind - partly due to assimilating to a new culture and partly because there was no accessibility to products like couscous and orange blossom water. Beyond that, Dave's personal struggle to find authentic, affordable products in the states led to the creation of this online marketplace.

The Name bsaha

Bsaha is a Maghrebi expression that means "to your health" or "may it bring you health." It's used in everyday life in Morocco when eating, drinking or purchasing something new. May your purchases on "bsaha" bring you joy and health.

The Stork or "La Cigogne"

Storks hold cultural significance in North Africa and can also symbolize delivery or arrival of something special. When Dave’s grandmother arrived to the United States from Algeria, a small marble statue of a stork was one of the only things she brought with her to begin her new life. She affectionally referred to it simply as “La Cigogne” which mean the stork in French.
